Surprising Threat

I was reading my favorite magazine,
Birds and blooms, (for this month) when I found this interesting fact about hummingbirds:

Once someone saw a praying mantis on his hummingbird feeder, soon a hummingbird flew up to the feeder waiting for the praying mantis to get a drink but the man soon found out that a praying mantis was a hummingbird predator!

Decorah Eagles

My Granny showed me the decorah bald eagles website and I love watching them and seeing the baby eaglets grow up!!! I heard that the mother and father eagles mate for life, which means if one of them die they will never mate again! You might enjoy watching them to at www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles

Baby cardinal

This is a baby cardinal I rescued at my church playground. I found it two weeks ago. The day after I found him and put him on a branch to keep him safe, I found him and rescued him again the next day!!!

This little baby cardinal was learning how to fly. When I rescued it the mother and father (like most birds) where squawking. I put it on a branch so it could lift off better and it's mother and father would find it more easily. I picked it up so it would not be trampled by anybody.
